Tuamotu islands: Kura ora

The Tuamotu archipelago spreads its 76 islands and atolls over more than 20 000 square km. 29 of them are accessible by plane and charming hotels and pensions will make a delight of your stay in Rangiroa, Manihi, Tikehau, Fakarava, Takapoto, Anaa, Mataiva, Kaukura, Hao, Takaroa and Makemo.Tuamotu islands : Kura ora

Born from coral, emerging just enough to create the most mythical lagoons on the planet, these islands are the magnets that attract scuba divers and Robinson Crusoes looking for a thrill. The development of pearl farming opened this archipelago to the world, and its dive spots are amongst the most beautiful in the world. Fauna like no other awaits you : dolphins, sharks, manta rays, moray eels and napoleons tirelessly repeat their aquatic ballet, while divers enjoy the thrill of drift dives in the powerful currents of ocean passes. On the surface : infinite sky, absolute quiet, the perfect postcard, paradise… On your table : foolhardy but abundant fish, sea urchin coral, sometimes lobsters caught on the reef at dawn.
Visit the pearl farms and admire the fish cages that the Paumotu, people of the sea, have used in the lagoons for millennia. The only obligation of the visitor : not to damage the coral, and to help conserving water.

The Tuamotu archipelago has many assets :

Fabulous lagoons with celebrated dive spots…
Beautiful coral heads in the lagoon, coral walls covered in magnificent flora and dotted with
countless caves that hide a world of fish and crustaceans, and the fabulously rich fauna of its passes make the Tuamotu one of the “musts” of scuba diving.
The lagoons of these atolls are hailed as some of the richest in fish, and the atoll of Fakarava is protected by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve.

Scuba diving cruises…
In this diving paradise, cruises allow aficionados to go from site to site, enjoying diverse underwater
landscapes and observing the fauna in its varied habitats.

The warm welcome of its people…
Sometimes reserved but cheerful and hospitable, the people of the Tuamotu share with visitors their daily life and the exclusive beauty of their islands in authentic simplicity.
Whether organizing a boat trip on the lagoon, a picnic on a remote motu, a visit to a pearl farm or telling the legends of their land, they are as efficient as they are pleasant.
